I am fundraising for..

I’m taking on the challenge of riding from Cairns to Cooktown for one simple reason: to make a real difference in the lives of people in our community. Cardiac conditions touch so many of us —whether it’s a family member, a friend, or even ourselves. I will be riding in honour and memory of my cousin Rurik Naess Henry. At age 35, Rurik was taken too soon due to a rare cardiac condition. He is remembered as a talented artist, loving father, brother, son, grandson, nephew and husband. It strikes me that now, I am aged 35 and I too am a parent. I consider it a privilege and honour to ride for Rurik in my first ever cardiac challenge.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine ever being in physical shape to complete this ride. I'm not quite there yet but training is well under way and I WILL get there! Since commencing riding in Oct/Nov in 2024 (~7 months ago), I feel at my strongest and healthiest, ever. I would encourage anyone thinking about cycling it to give it a go! Better yet, join the Cardiac Challenge next year!
