Pedaling for a Purpose: From the Orthopedic Ward to the Cardiac Challenge

As an Orthopedic nurse at the Cairns Hospital, my daily focus is helping patients rebuild their strength, regain mobility, and recover from either a major trauma or surgery. I see firsthand how vital modern, well-equipped specialist services are to our Far North Queensland community here in Cairns.

This is why I have decided to once again participate in this challenge.

I am incredibly proud to be joining my team, the Cairns Birdwings, for the annual Cardiac Challenge—a grueling but rewarding 333km, 3-day cycle from Cairns to Cooktown.

As someone who spends their working hours helping patients, I am highly invested in keeping my own body fully intact for this journey! More importantly, our team is riding to raise critical funds for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation to upgrade our hospital’s cardiac and specialist services.

Providing high-level specialist care locally, means our patients don't have to travel south away from their families during difficult times.

I would be incredibly grateful for your support in helping us reach our fundraising target. Every dollar raised goes directly to improving the healthcare services we deliver right here in Cairns.
