This September, I'll be riding 300km from Cairns to Cooktown as part of the Cardiac Challenge.

Growing up in Far North Queensland, I've seen how different healthcare can be when you live in a regional area. Accessing specialist care often means travelling long distances, spending time away from family, and facing challenges that people in major cities don't always have to think about.

This cause is especially important to me because my uncle, Virgil, was born with a congenital heart defect and passed away in December from heart complications. Access to cardiac care played an important role throughout his life and is something my family will always be grateful for.

This is a cause that's close to home, both because of where I grew up and because of the people I love.

Living in a regional area can have a huge impact on your health outcomes. Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of where they live.

The Cardiac Challenge raises funds to support cardiac services across Far North Queensland, helping improve access to care for people and families in our region.
