I am fundraising for make better health care available to everyone in Cairns...
I’m taking on the challenge of riding to Cooktown for one simple reason: to make a real difference in the lives of people in our community. Heart disease touches so many of us - whether it’s a family member, a friend, or even ourselves. After volunteering since 2016, I am now taking on my sixth ride to Cooktown. It is also six years since I had a transient ischemic attack (TIA) and required a PFO (patient foramen ovale) closure. I was advised I should travel to Sydney to have this done during Covid restrictions but fortunately due to the Cath Lab in Cairns Hospital supported by FNQHF and funds raised by the Cardiac Challenge, I was able to have the procedure done in Cairns. By supporting this ride, we’re helping fund vital cardiac services that save lives right here in Far North Queensland.
Every kilometre I pedal is a step closer to better care, more advanced equipment, and improved outcomes for those who need it most. It’s not just a bike ride; it’s a way to give back to the community, inspire others, and show that together, we can achieve something incredible.
Please join me on this journey — whether it’s by cheering us on, spreading the word, or making a donation. Every little bit helps bring us closer to ensuring everyone in our region has access to world-class cardiac care.
Thank you for being part of this ride with me!
