Why I'm doing the Cardiac Challenge Cairns to Cooktown bike ride in September
This year I’m taking on my third Cardiac Challenge — and apparently I thought the best way to celebrate the event’s 20th year was to voluntarily sign myself up for 300+km of cycling over three days. Because clearly, I haven’t learned my lesson yet. 😂
But this one is extra special.
My parents started the Cardiac Challenge 20 years ago to raise funds for the Cardiac Unit in Cairns, after my dad needed open-heart surgery in 2003 to repair a congenital hole in his heart.
My dad has gone on to complete every single Cardiac Challenge ride over the past 20 years including the ones before it started to check it all out. This year I’ll be joining him to celebrate this incredible milestone.
It’s a cause that is very close to our hearts, and I’d love your support in helping us raise funds for the Cardiac Unit in Cairns. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference.
