Riding for a Cause Close to My Heart
This year marks our 13th year participating in the Cardiac Challenge Ride to Cooktown and we continue to take on this challenge for one simple reason: to make a real difference in the lives of people across Far North Queensland.
Cardiac disease impacts so many families, including my own. Our youngest son, Landon, was born with complex congenital heart anomalies and underwent five open-heart surgeries before he was three years old. More recently, he required major surgery to replace his aortic valve and pulmonary artery. Despite everything he has faced, Landon is a true survivor and continues to inspire our family every day. He is the reason we ride.
Every kilometre I pedal helps raise funds for vital cardiac services, equipment, research, and patient care right here in our region. Together, we're helping ensure that families facing cardiac challenges have access to world-class treatment close to home.
This ride is about more than cycling from Cairns to Cooktown. It's about giving back, supporting the incredible cardiac teams who care for our community and helping create better outcomes for future generations.

Why We Ride & Volunteer!
Tuesday 14th Apr
Our family's reasons for participating in the Cardiac Challenge are to give back and to help strengthen and improve our local health services across Far North Queensland.
This ride is deeply personal for us. Our youngest son Landon was born with congenital heart defects and has bravely undergone multiple open‑heart surgeries. He continues to receive ongoing specialised cardiac care here in Far North Queensland.
By taking part in the Cardiac Challenge, we are proud to raise funds that stay local and support vital cardiac and healthcare services for FNQ families. Landon is our inspiration every step of the way 💙
