Why I'm supporting the Australian Retirement Trust Cardiac Challenge
I’m back in the Cardiac Challenge this year after a few years break — and being the 20th anniversary, it's a great excuse to do it again.
I’ve ridden a few times before and volunteered with SES, and it’s one of those events that keeps pulling you back in. There’s something about it — the people you meet, the random conversations, and the shared suffering on the hills — that makes it hard to stay away. Plus, you can’t complain too much when you’re riding through some amazing countryside.
Over the years I’ve made some great connections, and it’s a genuinely good few days to be part of.
At the end of the day though, it’s all for a solid cause. Cardiac issues affect just about everyone in one way or another, and this ride helps fund important equipment for local hospitals. It’s nice to know that all the pedalling actually goes towards something that makes a real difference.
So here I am again — back on the bike for the 20th. If you want to support the cause, cheer me on, or just enjoy watching me question my life choices halfway through, it’s all appreciated.
