THE ROUTE
The Alive Pharmacy Warehouse Ride for Isabel promises an engaging and scenic route for participants, offering both a sense of challenge and the pleasure of riding through some picturesque landscapes.
Starting from Norman Park in Gordonvale, the event starts with riders setting off in packs based on their chosen pace. This arrangement not only ensures safety and organisation but also allows participants to ride with others of similar speed, enhancing the experience for everyone. Escort vehicles will travel with each pack.
Short Course
For those undertaking the 50km ride, the route extends out to Crossland Road and Yarrabah Road, leading to Giangurra (Second Beach), where a morning tea stop is planned. This segment of the ride offers a nice blend of scenic views of Trinity Inlet and Cairns and a manageable distance, making it suitable for a broad range of participants.
After the break at Giangurra (Second Beach), the 50km riders will retrace their path back to Norman Park in Gordonvale. This return journey culminates in a lunch, adding a communal spirit to the event.
Long Course
The 100km riders face a more challenging route. They will also start their journey towards Giangurra (Second Beach), but upon returning to Norman Park, they’ll have a brief drink break before embarking on the second leg of their journey. This part of the route takes them out of Gordonvale, towards the Bruce Highway, with a left turn at the Aloomba turnoff, leading them through a scenic path along the foothills of Gordonvale and the cane fields. A drink stop at the end of Barbagallo Road offers a moment of rest before the rider’s head back to Gordonvale for lunch.
This route, with its variation in distance and scenery, caters to a wide range of cycling enthusiasts. The journey through the foothills and Canefields promises a beautiful backdrop for the riders, making it not just a ride for a cause but also an opportunity to enjoy some of Far North Queensland’s splendid natural landscapes.
