Volunteer Application

Apply here to volunteer at Cairns Hospital and surrounding health care centres.

Your application will be reviewed, and if successful, you will be placed in one of the numerous areas in the hospital where you can assist at any capacity. 

Important Information

In order for you to volunteer at the hospital you will need to:

1. Have a valid Blue Card. If you do not have one, you can apply via https://my.bluecard.qld.gov.au/login. You will need your driver's license to apply for one.

2. Provide Evidence of Vaccination, you will be required to provide your vaccination against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Whopping Cough (Pertussis) Chicken Pox. This is a requirement of Qld Health. If you do require any, we can organise for you to have them here at the hospital. Please note; If you are born prior to 1966 you are already considered immune to Measles/Mumps/Rubella. You will be emailed a Vaccination Preventable Disease Form after you submit your application. You will need to complete the form and return to the volunteer manager or email to volunteer@fnqhf.org.au

3. Declare Criminal History, you will need to declare if you have a criminal record or not. You may be disqualified if you fail to do so. Convictions which fall within the Criminal Law Rehabilitation of Offender Act 1986 need not be disclosed.

Availability

Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation generally operates two (2), four (4) hour shifts per day, Monday to Sunday (8.30am – 12.30pm and 12pm – 4pm). Most volunteers choose to give one (1) to two (2) shifts per week. You can only select one shift per day.

Once I have done this I will be required to read, understand and/or sign the following documents: - Block E Car Park FOC Card Registration form – only if required (a fee of $15 is applicable). - Workplace Orientation form. - Fire and Safety Work sheet.
