Every book costs $2.50 to print, so once we raise $2500, we can print 1000 copies that will then be disseminated throughout the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service to help children and families experiencing grief.

Why “A Very Big Feeling” Matters

A Very Big Feeling was lovingly and attentively written and illustrated by Cairns social worker Emily Bodenmann to provide children and families with grief and bereavement support through palliation, the death of a friend or loved one, a difficult diagnosis, a family breakdown, a life-limiting illness, bullying and any situation wherein grief may be felt. The book has been endorsed by Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service after review and consultation with multiple psychologists and social workers who have worked in grief and bereavement, oncology, the palliative space and paediatrics.
 
The overwhelming positive response from the book by both staff, children and adults who have used it to help them through a difficult journey, has prompted the need to print more, relying on donations, so they might be disseminated across every ward at Cairns Hospital and reach more rural and remote communities. With your donation, we can see that dream come true for children and families experiencing grief and bereavement.
