Cooktown Multipurpose Health Service has enhanced its diagnostic capabilities with the addition of two i-STAT devices, thanks to the tireless fundraising efforts of the Cooktown Friends of the Foundation and generous community support.
Valued at $20,000, these portable blood analysis devices allow point-of-care testing in the renal unit and community health services, reducing the need for patients to visit the Emergency Department for essential tests. The i-STATs provide immediate blood gas, electrolyte, and haematology results, enabling faster medical decisions and improving patient care.
